Jonah Lehrer gave a great talk today on creativity entitled “IMAGINE: How Creativity Works” for the National Creativity Network. He posits that the key to sustainable growth is innovation and creativity. So how does creativity work then? He explains in this hour long lecture.

“Sustainability is, thus, an unnatural attempt to break this cycle and extend a certain stage of the life cycle and avoid decline. Whereas renewal is about development; sustainability is about preservation. The term sustainable development, thus, contains a paradox.”
As we are about to prepare for an onslaught of Tumblr posts and reflections as we write our thesis in the coming weeks, we should probably remind ourselves not to go on a sustainability rampage.
